Doddington Dairy
The Maxwell family have been dairy farmers at Doddington in Northumberland for over 50 years, after moving from the west of Scotland. During the early 1990’s Neill, and his sister Margaret-Ann, used the raw milk to diversify into a specialist raw milk cheese business. Then in 1998 Neill, and wife Jackie, realised that difficulties continued to face dairy farmers and decided that they wanted to be in control of their own destiny. Against a background of falling milk prices Neill and Jackie started to experiment with ice cream recipes and, from their research, realised that not only could they produce superb ice cream but that there was no other company producing hand made ice cream, on a farm, between Yorkshire and Aberdeenshire. Thus Doddington Dairy Ice Cream was launched in August 2000. We love their ice cream but sadly it does not travel well!
The biscuits for cheese are a revelation – try them you will not be disappointed!
