Produced at St Aidan's Winery on the tidal island of Lindisfarne — Holy Island — off the Northumberland coast, Lindisfarne Dark Mead is a drink steeped in history. At 14.5% ABV, this rich fortified wine was created to honour the region's heritage from Roman times to the present day, and is crafted using a blend of honeys sourced worldwide, including honey from hives on the banks of the River Tweed.
In the glass, the deeper amber colour hints at what's to come — a richer, more complex character than the Traditional Mead, with a full-bodied warmth that lingers beautifully. Fans of port and sherry will feel immediately at home, yet find something genuinely distinctive and Northumbrian.
